MasterClasses in Rio de Janeiro - 1st Half of 2009

The Institute of Culture and Organistic Art offers two organ masterclasses for you who intend to improve your art of interpretation and organistic technique. These courses will take place in the first half of 2009 in Rio de Janeiro.

26, 27 and 28 de January 2009 - Joachim Walter (Germany)

In January 2009 we will have with us the German organist Joachim Walther, who manages together with Ton Koopman the Dieterich Buxtehude International Society. Joachim Walter will teach the masterclass The musical world of Buxtehude from 26 to 28 January 2009.

30, 31 March and 1st April 2009 - Ludger Lohmann (Germany)

In March / April 2009, as part of the II Organistic Art International Week, we will have in Rio the organist Ludger Lohmann who also is German. He is the organ professor of the  Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, organist of the Cathedral St. Eberhard Catholic in Stuttgart and one of the most respectable invited organists of nowadays. Ludger Lohmann will teach the masterclass Interpretation of the works of Bach during March 30, 31 and April 1st, 2009.

General Information about the events

For each masterclass it will be charged R$150,00 per participant in the category of active participant and R$75,00 in the category of "audience". The active participants will be able to choose a maximum of two works from the repertoire defined below. The participant will be able also to indicate a third work as a spare, in case there is extra time available to perform it. The works shall have indicated its order of preference. There will not be accepted works that have already been selected by another participant. The work selected as a spare will not be counted as "reserved" as will be the other ones. The selected works that contain two parts clearly identified (prelude and fugue for example) will be considered as two selected pieces.

The participant will be considered as registered only after performing the due payment related to the course. Please note any pre-registration will not guarantee the right to participate of the course neither the selection of the works to be performed. For each masterclasses it is planned to have a section with a presentation of theoretical issues related to the theme of the masterclass.

Each participant will receive printed copies with the pieces there will be performed by the other participants and also hand notes related to the class theoretical presentations. In addition, participants will receive certificates of attendance to the masterclass (both categories).
